october 2

We started the month wrapped up in bed, hot water bottle at the ready with some Lemsip this month as we got struck by a case of FA Cup Fever!

Bishop Stortford was one of the nicer draws we could have gotten and hopefully would see us progress easily, i wont be resting many though, as the FA Cup is our big potential money spinner if we can get to the 3rd round and draw a big premiership team away.

a relatively steady month of fixtures, all mid table candidates other than Torquay who are 2nd favourites to go up, although they've been struggling so far, and then that FA Cup game in the middle, hoping for a decent run at this month and hopefully put ourselves in a nice position to mount a playoff / Promotion challenge this season

A game of little quality, our strike force went missing and the game just didnt flow
Hogan had the game of his life, won everything in the air and completely shut down Torquay whenver they moved forward, positives to be taken for sure
6 clean sheets in concession, we are certainly embracing the defensive mindset

Sickner
We had been by no means great in this, but we had been solid and to concede in the 93rd minute (to a 25 yard deflected shot) wasnt nice and saw us drop 8 places as the table was so tight early on
the team didnt react well to this and the team talk was a shocker, need to change something i think

Recently released from Wycombe after playing 33 times in league 2 last season with a rating of 7.01 Marcus Bean may well be past his best, but will certainly add some experienced bite to our midfield
£875 a week for a year isn't too bad either, and hopefully his determination will rub off on some of the squad if he can get some sway in the dressing room.

Better
Puig was back on form in this game, with one of his goals in particular being a beauty
Woking pushed for an equaliser and on the counter Puig picked it up in his own half before skipping past the left back and making his way to the edge of the box where after a 1-2 with Balboa he slotted past the keeper.
what a player this guy could be.

a good win
an expected win, but a good one nonetheless
Puig got 2 early goals and Redshaw killed the tie (and broke his 7 game scoring draught) but the injury to Puig wasn't what we needed, he was coming off at half time too but a big tackle put an end to his game

4-5 weeks, not ideal and he will be right on the edge of fitness when the FA cup game comes around
speaking of which...

A league 1 team
and it's our first ever televised game!
money spinner to a degree, bringing in an expected 75k in total, thats 5% of our yearly running costs for 1 game!
and i smell a giant killing
Big game for next month this!
Anyone remember Hartlepool?

Macclesfield are good
probably the best we've come upo against to date
a good penalty save from crocombe got us a point here and Balboa added another goal to his tally
he's starting to push Redshaw, who is stuttering at the minute, out of the team

38 Brave Salford fans made the 14 hour round trip to whitehawk on a warm october afternoon for this one and Balboa made sure they left happy
we threw the kitchen sink, and even the taps at them in this game having 20 shots, Marcus Bean made his full debut in this game and managed to give away 9 free kicks without getting booked
impressive.
This was also the first game i can remember where a fully fit Redshaw didnt get a minutes game time
Balboa is impressive at the minute

A faltering staart to the month was recovered well with 3 wins and a draw
we are moving in the right direction and for a team expecting to stave off relegation, we are looking good for potentially a playoff spot this season or maybe, even one step further finding ourselves in second place with over a 3rd of the season already in the bag.

next month is the big one though
