august 3
So here it is
The new season is upon us
and as promised, here is Tosin Kehinde
a more well rounded player than a quick glance would suggest i'll be looking toward him to be the creative force in our midfield, looking to bridge the gap between midfield and attack
An exciting prospect
Well
this is a big month, but i guess its always going to be the case this season isnt it
Newport is a must win as they'll be down there and probably around us this season so we need to look to beat the weaker teams in the league, especially at home, because teams like Swindon, who we play last this month, will probably have too much for us
39 points
39 points is the average for keeping teams up in this division over the last 2 seasons
thats the target, im not bothered about winning anything, nor am i going to be dismayed with losses, 39 points is all im looking for and to get there as soon as possible
with that in mind
Its Salford City's first ever game of league football!
4-4
At least we showed we can score at this level
after being 3-0 down after 31 minutes it didnt look promising this season, but after a change to a back 5 and a re-shuffle we bounced back and took a 4-3 lead before gifting a late goal to draw
its a point, and after going 3 behind its a great result
the defence looks shaky though
that doesnt bode well
lets see what we can muster against the biggest team we've ever played competitively
HULL CITY
When you come up against a £7 million signing on debut
you're never going to have a good time with a team that cost a grand total of £0 are you
Lago Junior tore us to shreds early on before stepping off the gas
Jack gave us some hope, but an own goal saw the tie killed off
our 16 shots look good, but 8 of these were in 2 attacks where Mcgregor pulled off 2 triple saves before we put wide twice
we had chances, and it wasnt too bad
we were just outclassed
Didnt want the distraction anyway, theres always the FA Cup...
Our first win and its a big one
2 for Redshaw again shows he has hit thr ground running and 2 for the returning Hogan gave us a convincing win against Newport who in fairness, were very poor
4 points down, 35 to go
another win!
and a clean sheet!
what a performance as we dominated Accrington Stanley
Jack Evans came into the team this week as was a rock, showing why he has 20 determination by battling for every ball
Redshaw scored YET AGAIN and looks very established already at this level
Behind the scenes, Kehinde has gotten himself 5 assists too
going well this
7 down, 32 to go
Southend probably deserved a win here
they beat us in every department and when they took the lead i feared the worst
but Super sub Oates got a great equaliser and got us an away point at one of the leagues better teams
good good point this
8 down, 31 to go
this happened 2 days after the last game and it's the last thing i needed
he was forming a great triangle in midfeidl with Songo'o and Evans and ill struggle to replace his creativity
it might only be 3 weeks though, so its not the end of the world.
Back down to earth
Swindon absolutely battered us here
we had no answer and even shifting to a back 3 at half time saw no improvement
our Andorran signing had a mare in this too, getting beaten all ends up all game and got a stern talking to after his 5.2 rating
cant complain at results like this though, Swindon have won 6 from 6
31 points still needed
A very good month with only runway leaders Swindon and Hull beating us
We showed spirit and determination, two things we lacked last season and came from behind twice to draw
im happy with that, and we've made a good dent in the points needed column already
We sit 10th, but with 4 points separating 3rd and 20th, its far too early to judge.
