End of Season 1
As Bruce Buffer would say
IIITTTTTTTTS
TIIIIMEEEEEEEEEEE!
the Fa Trophy final is here and the boys are ready for their first taste of wembley, as
am i
we are ready, we've had a month off and are suitably rested but match fit and raring to go
and, in what could be seen as risky or even to some, careless
we have a 35% fit Jack Redshaw on the bench!
he took some persuading mind you...
he might be banged up and playing on a suitable amount of painkillers, but Cassidy is cup tied, and a 35% Redshaw is better than Dudley on the bench (sorry Dudley)
We hopefully wont need him, but just in case we do, he's there
another 2 people missing are Gus mufuta who picked up a knock and Shepherd who broke his foot in the final game of the season and was sent back to Solihull at the end of his loan
Thanks Shepherd, it was a pleasure!
but anyway, over to the announcer at wembley
"so this is how the mighty Salford City line up today!"
In Goal number 1 Max Crocombe
number 2 Ronaldo Jones
number 3 Ibou Touray
Number 4 and Captain Liam Hogan
Number 5 Carl Piergianni
Number 6 Lois Maynard
Number 7 Danny Livesey
Number 8 Ben Chapman
Number 9 Jake Beesley
Number 10 Mike Phenix
and number 11 Emmanuel Dieseruvwe
And we are under way at wembley
let's see what the first half has in store...
Wrexham are good
they're the best we've come up against this year by a mile
we've been on the backfoot all half and Wrexham rightfully hold the lead
I question the boys on whether they actually want to win, they respond with an almighty roar and head back out
75 minutes in, and its still 1-0
we are getting into the midfield but it just isnt sticking up top
"Jack"
"yes boss"
"put down the crutches lad, you're going on"
"aye, just let me get this cast off first"
in life, sometimes, you have to sacrifice the ones you love...
78 minutes in and Big Burge bangs in the Equaliser!
90 minutes gone - Extra Time
3 minutes into extra time and the inevitable happens, redshaw has to come off with what could be anything at this point
but he did a job
Thanks Jack, ill see you in A+E
120 minutes gone
its still 1-1
and that means 1 thing
Penalties
i've only ever let Jack and Livesey take them, and theyre both off the pitch through injury
this will be interesting
Emmanuel up first
lets cross everything and hope!
*sigh*
you just can't ever miss 4 penalties and expect anything
4-1 to wrexham and they lift the FA trophy
the boys are gutted but im proud
they were expected to make round 2 at best this year and nearly won the whole thing at the same time as getting promoted.
come here lads, lets go on the lash
in other news
Manchester had a good year didnt it...
FC united join me in the Vanarama National
and united won the Fa cup Champions league double with City winning the premiership
what a city
what a year
END OF SEASON AWARDS
Manager of the year
I'll take that
although, York played a blinder this year, if they'd have come up, he would have won it 100%
Who else
35 in 32 and 46 in all competitons
Jack Redshaw ladies and gents
Dont agree with this one
Phenix should have won this hands down
better average rating and more assists with only 5 less goals
but Djabi did score a Playoff final hat-trick so, you know
well done and all that
*pfft*
Jack won player of the year, I'd have expected Phenix but the fans love goals
Cassidy won goal of the season with a 20 yard volley, BEAUT
Did everyone forget about burge? Nilsen won signing of the season...
and Emmanuel won young player, easy choice that one.
The stats speak for themselves
46 goals
27 assists
and Chapman was a good little player on the sly
what a season
And finally this made me smile
Redshaw even won top goalscorer in the FA cup despite only making round 1
nice little stat to tell the grandkids that one
Thanks for following me this season everyone
lets hope the Vanarama national has some nice surprises for us next season
see you next season!
