August 4

Here it is
The most challenging season starts here
and its a tough run this month
but that's going to be the case every month i would imagine now
we are up against it but have been every season so far, so i have high hopes
the recruitment drive went well, we've bought and loaned smartly and i think we have a good chance of causing a few upsets this year
im aiming for mid table safety, but might have to reassess depending on how we start
no chasing avoiding relegation this year, i don't need that negativity this season with what faces us
we need to be brave
we need to be confident
let's do this!

And so it begins...this recurring injury of Jacks needs looking at by a specialist or its going to keep coming back
but i dont have £550 spare
So our new look physio team will have to take a look
the last thing i needed was Redshaw missing for the first 3 months of the season
but we have backup's
and im confident in their abilities
so onto how we line up to start this season!

We start as always with the now number 1 for New Zealand Crocombe in goal

the new look back 3 of Songo'o, Lemoine and Forster looks so much more stable than our back line has ever looked and should give us a good base to attack with

Lewis is recalled back to the starting lineup after Moore has departed and richards holds onto his right wing back spot, what a signing he has been

Flanagan and Sangster hold onto the midfield roles and im looking for them to push on and improve even more this season as they mature with the squad

"he's one of our own"
the chant that rings out from the Salford faithful as Jack Robson is named in the starting lineup for the first time since that run after he was recalled 3 years ago
He's had good loan spells away and looks ready for the test

He starts alongside the ever improving Rabbi Djonhambo and new Talisman Jay Emannuel Thomas, who will have to be a leading light in this team

Its a good mix of youth and Experience
Pace and power
Determination and Flair
i really feel as though we have it all.

So lets get to it!!!

Well that was a turn up for the books!
We hosted Crewe on a wet but warm day at Moor lane and in front of a near sell out we blew them away inside the hour
New man Jay scored twice early on either side of a Rabbi goal and in the second half, Lemoine sealed the win with a bullet header
We win, we keep a clean sheet and we look good
Easy this league 1 lark.

But next
Preston in the Carabao Cup

What a game!
we started defensively to try and soak up pressure but after finding ourselves 3-1 down after 23 minutes we reverted to what we know best and went for the kill
Sangster was phenomenal and Robson got his first goal for the club in a romping 5-3 win and we progress to the second round for the first time ever
will we get a big game?
or will we draw yet more championship teams who will be hard to beat with little pay off?

A Massive tie!
Everton are Premiership stalwarts who although have struggled in recent seasons (after sacking Mancini and replacing him with Tony Pulis i might add) have been in the top 8 every season since i took over
hopefully we can get a good crowd and if they rest players, we might be in with a shout
its a long shot
but we might even scrape a draw and bring them back to moor lane
what a day that would be!

In front of 21,165 fans we rocked Bradford beating them 5-4 on theyre own patch!
Robson scored twice as did Jay and we looked comfortable
but after coming on at half time, Shay Mccartan caused us all sorts of problems and left with the match ball
What a game for the 21 thousand in attendance

Jay, Jack, Rabbi
our 3 main men are stepping it up
Redshaw has to earn his place back at the minute!
it would have been another clean sheet but a lapse in concentration at 3-0 up let that go
we look solid, and we look dangerous going forward
but now is the real test
Away at Goodison Park

I CANNOT BELIEVE IT
we did the unthinkable and beat Everton at Goodison Park!
granted
they played 8 debutants
but beside the point, we won!
after going 2-0 down the boys rallied like never before and came back to win 3-2
and we progress to the 3rd round of the Carabao Cup!
this is turning out to be a dream season already!

This shows the consistency ive come to expect from the team and they break yet another record
Fantastic!
Teams will be gunning for us now though
we will have to keep going

More Premiership opposition
And i honestly think we have another chance here
Villa will be prioritising staying up and might rest people here
in front of our own fans, i fancy us against anyone!

Our own fault this one
"Captain Fantastic" Songo'o decided he was the most suitable penalty taker and blazed it over the stand
it should have been a point
but it is what it is
i cant be mad at the guys after this month

3 wins and a loss in the league is so much better than anyone expected of us
but with the team we have built, it doesnt surprise me
i reckon we are probably one of the top half teams in terms of quality this season, but on paper is different to actually doing it
the two wins in the carabao cup are the cherries on top though, i couldnt be happier
